Hadiths and sunna: The shame of traditional Islam

Are hadiths and Sunna truly part of Islam or are they baseless traditions which cripple the message of peace described in the Holy Quran?

The term hadith refers to sayings attributed to the prophet Muhammad. The word ‘Sunnah’ refers to religious traditions allegedly established by Muhammad, and authentified through a consensus of his companions. Even though the Quran proclaims it is fully detailed and contains the details of everything (7:52, 6:114. 10:37), an overwhelming majority of Muslims inherited the traditional belief that they need hadiths and sunna to understand, detail or clarify some passages of the Quran.

1. We are going to introduce the subject by witnessing a few examples of shocking hadiths surprisingly classified as “Sahih” (authentic).

2. Sunni and Shia scholars point at a number of Quranic verses to claim that the Book of God acknowledges Hadiths and Sunna as a necessary part of the Islamic religion. We will prove that Sunni and Shia Islam have diverted their original meanings to impose traditions which disfigure Islam.

Unlike the Quran which was fully written down during Muhammad’s ministry, both Hadiths and Sunna are traditions that were allegedly passed down for at least two hundred years before they were ever written down. A key Quranic verse and a likely authentic tradition will explain why early Muslims were terrified to write down anything else but the Quran.

3. The Quran provides extensive good and bad examples of human behavior (including messengers) upon which we are invited to meditate. The first Sunni and Shia Scholars had no choice but to face the fact that some of Muhammad’s mistakes are uncompromisingly depicted in the Quran. This is why traditional scholars invented the doctrine that messengers are infallible and that the only mistakes Muhammad (or other messengers) ever made in his life are only the ones mentioned in the Quran. We will easily shatter such a doctrine quoting a verse of the Quran.

4. We will then provide evidence that the only authentic and reliable Hadiths that Muslims are allowed to follow are the ones directly found in the last revelation citing one key Quranic Hadith where Muhammad proclaims that He and other Muslims must follow the Quran exclusively.

5. A number of Hadiths led to the creation of religious laws that violate and contradict the letter and spirit of the Holy Quran. Instead of acknowledging that such hadiths are false, proving that hadiths as a whole are not reliable and extremely dangerous when it comes to preserve the integrity and purity of Islam, Sunni and Shia Muslims chose to betray God and his revelations by giving to some Hadiths precedence over the Quran. We will provide as an example two most shocking laws derived from Hadiths proving that they contradict the Quran (stoning to death the adulterer and Female Genital Mutilation) and which corroborate the fact that Hadiths and Sunna inspired an evil religion that has nothing to do with Islam. The religion of satan needs to be exposed in all its horror: We need to alert the reader that we chose to show in section 5 and the conclusion very graphic and disturbing pictures of people being stoned to death.

Sunni and Shia scholars claim that one who does not believe in Hadiths and Sunna is a “kafeer” (infidel). This article will provide a most powerful answer to such people and the reader will judge by him or herself if one who rejects totally Hadiths and Sunna is an infidel or a true believer who stands up to defend Islam against the worst type of obscurantism.

1. Hadiths, the shame of Islam:

Muhammad and torture, is it recommended to drink urine?

Bukhari, Volume 4 Number 261:

‘Eight men of the tribe of ‘Ukil came to the Prophet and then they found the climate of Medina unsuitable for them. So, they said, ‘O Allah’s Apostle! Provide us with some milk.’ Allah’s Apostle said, ‘I recommend that you should join the herd of camels.’ So they went and drank the urine and the milk of the camels (as a medicine) till they became healthy and fat. Then they killed the shepherd and drove away the camels, and they became unbelievers after they were Muslims. When the Prophet was informed by a shouter for help, he sent some men in their pursuit, and before the sun rose high, they were brought, and he had their hands and feet cut off. Then he ordered for nails which were heated and passed over their eyes, and whey were left in the Harra (i.e. rocky land in Medina). They asked for water, and nobody provided them with water till they died.’

Islam and stoning to death?

Adultery, Sahih Muslim, Book 017, Number 4191:

‘Ubada b. as-Samit reported: Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Receive (teaching) from me, receive (teaching) from me. Allah has ordained a way for those (women). When an unmarried male commits adultery with an unmarried female (they should receive) one hundred lashes and banishment for one year. And in case of married male committing adultery with a married female, they shall receive one hundred lashes and be stoned to death.

Book 017, Number 4201:

Ibn Abbas reported that Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) said to Ma’iz b. Malik: Is it true what has reached me about you? He said: What has reached you about me? He said: It has reached me that you have committed (adultery) with the slave-girl of so and so? He said: Yes. He (the narrator) said: He testified four times. He (the Holy Prophet) then made pronouncement about him and he was stoned (to death).

Stoning to death the female monkey?

Narrated by ‘Amru bin Maimun: “During the pre-Islamic period of ignorance I (Muhammad) saw a female monkey surrounded by a number of monkeys. They were all stoning it, because it had committed illegal sexual intercourse. I (Muhammad) too, stoned it along with them.”Sahih Bukhari Volume 005, Book 058, Hadith Number 188.

I know muslims are born losers they will say it is not in the hadiths . but here in the websites…

Is female genital mutilation (“woman circumcision”) recommended in Islam?

Hadith reported by Umm ‘Atiyyah: “A woman used to perform circumcision in Madinah. The Prophet (s.a.w.) said to her: ‘When you circumcise, do not cut severely as that is better for a woman and more desirable for a husband.'” (Related by Abu Dawud & al-Bayhaq) (This hadith is considered weak by some authorities and valid by others).

“When two circumcised parts unite then bathing becomes obligatory.” (Sahih, reported by Ahmad and Al-Baihaqee)

This hadith is considered strong and clearly implies that Muslims who have intercourse, both men and women, should be circumcised. In reality, circumcision is not mentioned in the Quran, neither for the man and surely not for the woman, and is therefore not part of Islam.

Is it possible to tamper with the Quran according to the hadiths?

What does traditionnal Islam have to say concerning the Hadiths which claim an entire verse is not only missing from the Quran but lost forever?

“The parchment on which the verse about stoning to death for adultery was written, was eaten and abrogated by a goat.” (Ibn Maajah, 36/1944; Hanbal, 3/61; 5/131, 132, 183; 6/269)

Are Women, horses and homes bad omen?

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 58, number 188:

Sahih Al Bukhari 76/5 “Bad omen is in the woman, the horse and the home.”

Is Prayer nullified by women, monkeys and black dogs?

Sahih Bukhari 8/102 and Hanbel 4/86:

“If a monkey, a black dog or a woman passes in front of a praying person, his prayer is nullified.”

Apparently pigs don’t nullify the prayer, too bad women do…

Killing the apostate?

Sahih Bukhari 9/57:

Mohammed said, “Whoever changes his Islamic religion, kill him.”

Such is the Sunni version of religious freedom…

No big deal to kill a “kafeer” (infidel)?

Sahih Bukhari 9/50:

Mohammed said, ” No Muslim should be killed for killing a Kafir” (infidel).

Hadiths are crippled with ridiculous examples and numerous contradictions. Example:

The Prophet never urinated in a standing position.(Masnad Hanbal, 6/136, 192, 213)

The Prophet urinated in a standing position. (Bukhari, 4/60, 62)

Quran: ﴾4:82) Why do they not reflect on the Quran ? If it were from other than GOD, they would have found in it many contradictions.

Scientific miracles in the hadiths?:

The earth is carried on a giant bull; when it shakes its head, then an earthquake occurs. (Ibn Katheer 2/29; 50/1)

It is very bad to cut women’s fingers, what should be the punishment?:

The punishment for cutting the fingers of a woman is to pay her: 10 camels for one finger; 20 camels for two fingers; 30 camels for three fingers, and 20 (twenty) camels for four fingers. (Hanbal, 2/182; Muwatta, 43/11)

One gets a discount after cutting the fourth finger: The penalty goes down from 30 camels for three fingers to twenty camels for four fingers !!!! Is it the Sunni version of compassion for the sinner, or simply because it is a fair practice to allow discounts for large quantities? Bottom line: If you already have cut off three fingers to a woman, just cut off another one and you will save 10 camels !!!! After such nonsense, is it really a surprise that women are treated like garbage in traditional Islam?

Muhammad bewitched?

The Prophet had been bewitched by a Jew, and for several days he did not know what he was doing. (Bukhari, 59/11; 76/47; Hanbal 6/57; 4/367)
Hadiths and racism, Muhammad expressing racist views regarding people of color?:

Narated By Anas bin Malik : Allah’s Apostle said, “You should listen to and obey, your ruler even if he was an Ethiopian (black) slave whose head looks like a raisin.” (Bukhari Vol 9, Book 89, Number 256)

These hadiths are considered authentic (Sahih) and pass the test invented by traditional Muslims who set up the criteria to accept or reject them. The above hadiths are what they call “strong” hadiths. There are hundreds and hundreds of similarly disgusting hadiths and sunna rules all over the place.

Aside from the fact that whoever has a good heart will naturally reject such horrible hadiths, we are going to study in detail why it is shameful both to believe in them and disgraceful to call people who reject them kafeers (infidels).

2. Quranic verses cited out of context to justify following hadiths and sunna.

As we will see in part 4, traditional Islam (Sunni & Shia) is in contradiction with the Quran claiming it is not fully detailed and advocates following the Hadiths and Sunna of the prophet to complement the Quran. Let us study the verses upon which they rely to claim that the Quran supports following traditions other than the book revealed to Muhammad.

2.1 The meaning of verse 59:7

Sunnis and Shias regularly quote verse 59:7:

(59:7) …Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and refrain from whatever he forbids you…

This is usually how they will choose to quote the verse. At first glance, it seems that the meaning they derive from the verse may be correct, but if you take a closer look, it is clear that 59:7 has been quoted partially. So let us read the entire verse:

(59:7) Whatever [spoils] from the people of the towns God has turned over on His Messenger, shall belong to God, His Messenger, as well as those closely related, the orphans, the poorest people and the wayfarer in need; so that it does not remain among the rich among you. Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it and refrain from whatever he forbids you. Fear God; for God is stern in retribution.

Once placed in its proper context, it becomes obvious that the verse has nothing to do with advocating following the hadiths or sunna of the prophet. Verse 59:7 is connected to 8:41 and simply refers to the fact that if spoils of war are seized after a battle, there are different categories of people to whom a 20% share (specifically mentioned in 8:41) should go to as obligatory charity. Aside from what goes to charity after the battle, whatever the messenger gives to his soldiers from the spoils of war, they have to take it, and refrain from whatever he forbids them.

In other words, Sunnis and Shias extract from the verse a completely different meaning than the one intended by God to serve a personal agenda and manipulate people.

2.2 The messenger is an excellent example

Another verse that is claimed to support following hadiths and Sunna is the fact that the Quran says that Muhammad is an excellent example for the Muslim community:

(33:21) Certainly, the messenger of God is an excellent example for whoever seeks God and the Last Day, and remembers God frequently.

The context of the verse is a battle where Muhammad’s courage and devotion to God serves as an excellent example for the believers, both at the time of the revelation, as well as for future generations since the Quran is timeless. This “excellent example” provided by the prophet during a battle has simply nothing to do with the fact that Muslims would have to follow questionable Hadiths attributed to Muhammad and written down two centuries after his death.

A very simple proof that traditional Muslims quote 33:21 completely out of context is the following verse where “Abraham and those with him” are also said to be “good examples”:

(60:4) Certainly, there is for you a good example in Abraham and those with him when they said to their people, “We disown you and the idols that you worship besides God. We denounce you, and you will see nothing from us except animosity and hatred until you believe in God alone.” However, a mistake was committed by Abraham when he said to his father, “I will pray for your forgiveness, but I possess no power to protect you from God.” “Our Lord, we trust in You, and submit to You; to You is the final destiny.

Does 60:4 imply that we should follow the Hadiths and Sunna of “Abraham and those with him”? We obviously do not have hadiths and sunna of “Abraham and those with him”. The good example provided by “Abraham and those with him” is no other than the example narrated by the Quran itself; by the way, verse 60:4 mentions a mistake that he made regarding praying for his father’s forgiveness.

Muhammad and Abraham are therefore both shown providing good (and sometimes bad) examples in the Quran and this is certainly not a hint that we should follow the hadiths and sunna of the prophet other than what is mentioned in the last revelation. Again, we are witnessing that traditional Islam manipulates the meaning of the Quran to claim we should. It is not what the Quran says.

2.3 Obey God and the messenger

The Quran provides numerous times the clear command to “follow God and follow the messenger”.

For example:

(3:32) Say: “Obey God and the messenger”; and if they turn away, then indeed God does not love the disbelievers.

(4:13) These are God’s limits; and whoever obeys God and His messenger, he will admit him to gardens below which there are flowing streams.

Trinity, a doctrine which does not make sense, became an unquestionable belief in the Christian world after centuries of persecuting and killing whoever would not believe in it. In a similar way, traditional Islam has brainwashed Muslims to believe that hadiths that were written down (for the earliest ones) about two hundred years after the prophet passed away are perfectly authentic and reliable as long as a chain of supposedly reliable witnesses has been identified. Just like it is the case for trinity in Christian circles, every Muslim is taught from childhood that such hadiths are unquestionable; anyone who does not believe in them is considered an infidel.

In reality, there is not one court of justice in the world that would give any credit to a testimony that has been passed down orally for two hundred years before it was eventually written down. Why wasn’t that testimony written down right away to begin with if it is that reliable?

Everyone has a strong tendancy to follow the crowd blindly, and this is why people fail to see how impossible and ridiculous such a claim is.

Do any of the many verses of the Quran which command to “Obey God and the messenger” tell us to “follow God and the hadiths and sunna which were going to be written down 200 years after Muhammad passed away”? Of course not.

On the contrary, such verses tell us that:

– (1) When Muhammad was alive, the believers had the obligation to obey him in every way.

– (2) Now that Muhammad is dead, we have to obey God and the messenger’s perfect teachings and hadiths that are perfectly preserved directly in the Quran, and certainly not the unreliable fables written down 200 years after his death.

– (1) When Muhammad was alive, the believers had the obligation to obey him as a messenger of God, as a head of state and as a commander in chief. Incredibly, nothing of what Muhammad said when he was alive was ever written down, except his sayings which God had decided would directly be part of the Quran. It is very disturbing for hadiths followers that some hadiths classified as the most authentic (Muslim & Ibn Hanbal) tell us that Muhammad himself had in reality forbidden any of his sayings to be written down, except those chosen by God to be part of the Quranic revelation. No one dared to disobey Muhammad at the time, and it is the only logical explanation why we had to wait for at least 200 years to start seeing ignorant people attempt to collect sayings that had been forbidden to be collected in the first place:

“Abi Saeed AlKhudry may God be pleased with him reported that the messenger of God may God exalt him & grant him peace had said: “Do not write anything from me except the Quran. Anyone who wrote anything other than Quran shall erase it.” !!! (Muslim, Zuhd 72; Ibn Hanbal 3/12,21,39)

The Quran conveys a similar interdiction in an even stronger manner:

(69:40) Indeed this [Quran] is the utterance of an honorable messenger; (69:41)Not the utterance of a poet; [but] rarely do you believe. (69:42) And not the utterance of a soothsayer; [but] rarely do you take heed. (69:43) It [this Quran] is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. (69:44) And had he uttered on our behalf any sayings, (69:45) We would have seized him by the right hand; (69:46) Then, We would assuredly have severed the main artery [of his heart].

Muhammad would have been put to death immediately and thrown in hell if he had asked for his own sayings (other than those already part of the Quranic revelation) to be considered as part of the divine revelation:

(17:73) “They almost diverted you (O Muhammad) from what we revealed to you; If you had invented on our behalf anything else, they would have assuredly considered you as a friend. (17:74) And If it were not that we strengthened you, you would certainly have slightly leaned towards them. (17:75) We would then have made you taste double [the punishment] in this life, and double [after] death; You would then have found no one as a protector against us.”

Similarly, If we look at the context of verse 4:80, one of the many verses where believers are enjoined to “obey God and the messenger”, we see in 4:82 that the message of the Quran was the only thing Muhammad delivered and followed, because it is a message without any contradiction:

(4:80) Whoever obeys the messenger, has surely obeyed God; to whoever turns away: We have not sent you as a guardian over them. (4:81) And they say: “[We pledge] obedience!” Then, when they are no longer in your presence, a group among them plots during the night against what you say. But God records what they plot during the night. So turn away from them and put [your] trust in God. God suffices when it comes to trust. (4:82) Why do they not reflect upon the Quran? If it were from other than God, they would have found in it numerous contradictions.

The verse does not tell us to reflect about the Quran and hadiths delivered by the prophet Muhammad, but simply to reflect about the Quran because it is a message without any contradictions, unlike any message delivered by any human being, including the prophet Muhammad.

This implies that the religious message that the last prophet delivered was the Quran, the whole Quran, and nothing but the Quran. Muhammad’s own imperfect sayings would have at times interfered with the flawless divine revelation. We will prove in the next section quoting the Quran that even though Muhammad was a messenger of God, he was a very imperfect man; Even if we had had authentic hadiths from him written at the time he was alive (other than those cited by the Quran), following them and some of their mistakes would have been a scenario of disaster for the Muslim world.

–  (2) Now that the prophet Muhammad is dead, we still can obey him following all the authentic hadiths and examples found in the Quran, which is the only authentic and reliable collection of hadiths that was left to us. This is why every time we obey Muhammad reading the Quran and follow his good example, we obey God directly since he is the one who designed the Quran and chose which hadiths of messengers (and human beings in general) should be used as examples (4:80).

Furthermore, the language of the Quran is very specific and we are never told to “follow God and follow Muhammad” literally, but instead to “follow God and follow the messenger”. This is because when the prophet was alive Muslims had to follow him directly as a messenger who was reciting and following strictly the perfect Arabic Quran. When the prophet died, the Quran replaced Muhammad as a messenger since we find many of the last prophet’s authentic sayings and actions, as well as those of so many humans (messengers or not) of the history of mankind. In addition, we are left with a complete revelation which stands as a testament for the human race; it is fully detailed, and it is therefore a perfect messenger.

3. Was Muhammad infallible? Is it true that the only mistakes Muhammad ever made as a messenger are the ones found in the Quran?

If the Quran does provide plenty of good examples of Muhammad’s behavior and exemplary character, traditional Muslims conveniently forget that it also points at the fact that Muhammad (and other messengers) made several substantial mistakes:

(80:1) He (Muhammad) frowned and turned away. (80:2) When the blind man came to him. (80:3) But what makes you know, if he doesn’t wish to purify himself,(80:4) Or to be reminded, so the reminder would benefit him? (80:5) As for the wealthy; (80:6) You gave to him your attention, (80:7) Even though it is not up to you if he purifies himself. (80:8) But as for the one who came to you full of eagerness, (80:9) And was fearful, (80:10) You ignored him.

Remark: Muhammad’s above regrettable behavior is the same as we see every day in real life: People have a very strong tendency to be impressed and respectful of wealthy, powerful or seemingly highly educated people, regardless of their real human qualities; on the contrary, they look down on people with real human qualities who do not have a high social status.

(33:37) Recall that you said to the one who was blessed by God, and blessed by you, “Keep your wife and reverence God,” and you hid inside yourself what God wished to proclaim. Thus, you feared the people, when you were supposed to fear only God. When Zeid was completely through with his wife, we had you marry her, in order to establish the precedent that a man may marry the divorced wife of his adopted son. God’s commands shall be done.

(66:1) O you prophet! Why do you prohibit what God has made lawful for you, seeking to please your wives? God is Oft Forgiving, Merciful.

Remark: In 33:37, Muhammad made a catastrophic mistake as he knew about God’s command regarding the right to marry the wife of an adopted child after a divorce, but did not divulge it because he was more afraid of people than God! A similar sin is mentioned in 66:1, as Muhammad prohibited what God had made lawful, seeking to please his wives.

In spite of several verses of the Quran showing that Muhammad was just an imperfect human being just like everybody else, lots of traditional Muslims who do not study the Quran carefully either claim that:

1. Muhammad was infallible;

2. alternatively, those who are more in phase with the Quran and who understand that it is impossible to deny the fact that Muhammad made substantial mistakes claim that such mistakes were all outlined in the Quran and that the prophet was otherwise perfect. By inventing such a lie, they imply that we can rely on the various hadiths collections that have been classified as “sahih” (authentic) by Sunni scholars. The problem with such a theory is that the Quran proves it wrong. Let us judge for ourselves:

(48:1) Indeed, we have granted you (second person singular = O Muhammad) a clear victory. (48:2) So that God may forgive you (second person singular = O Muhammad) your past sins, as well as what will follow [i.e. your future sins], and complete His favor upon you, and guide you in a straight path.

Only three suras (5, 9, 110) were revealed after sura 48. Anyone can read these three suras and will not find any specifics regarding Muhammad making mistakes.  This means that Muhammad’s future sins mentioned in 48:2 are sins in addition to those already specifically mentioned in the Quran. If anyone had witnessed Muhammad making the types of mistakes or sins that are referred to in 48:2, and had reported or even written strictly what he had said or done, people who believe that the hadiths of the prophet are the equivalent of Quranic truths meant to be followed after his death could have easily been misled on a number of occasions, as they would have been influenced by the mistakes of an imperfect man. Furthermore, let us imagine that some hadiths were correctly reported despite a gap of at least two centuries between the time they were uttered and the time they were written down, we do not necessarily know their exact context, and we may therefore misunderstand them as well.

This is to avoid such types of confusion that God decreed that the Quran ALONE is to be followed (17:46). It is also why God ordered Muhammad to alert people that he was a fallible human being just like anybody else:

(18:110) Say, (O Muhammad): “I am no more than a human being like you….”

4. The Quran: The only hadith we should follow and believe in.

اولم ينظروا فى ملكوت السموت والارض وما خلق الله من شىء وان عسى ان يكون قد اقترب اجلهم فباى حديث بعده يومنون

(7:185) Have they not looked at the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all the things that God has created? And does it ever occur to them that the end of their life may be near? Then, in which Hadith (= saying/word), other than this (Quran) do they believe in?

لقد كان فى قصصهم عبرة لاولى الالبب ما كان حديثا يفترى ولكن تصديق الذى بين يديه وتفصيل كل شىء وهدى ورحمة لقوم يومنون

(12:111) Verily, there is a lesson to be drawn from their stories for men who possess intelligence. This (Quran) is not a fabricated Hadith; On the contrary, it confirms that which came before it, it provides a detailed explanation of everything, as well as guidance and mercy for people who believe.

ومن الناس من يشترى لهو الحديث ليضل عن سبيل الله بغير علم ويتخذها هزوا اولئك لهم عذاب مهين

(31:6) Among the people, there are those who uphold baseless Hadiths to divert from the path of God without knowledge, and take it (the Quran) as a mockery. These have incurred a humiliating retribution.

(39:23) God has revealed [herein] the best Hadith; It is a book that is consistent, and points out both ways (to Heaven and Hell). It makes the skins of those who fear their Lord shiver; in the end, their skins and their hearts soften up at God’s remembrance. Such is God’s guidance; which He bestows upon whomever He wills. As for whomever God lets go astray, there is no guide for him.

تلك ءايت الله نتلوها عليك بالحق فباى حديث بعد الله وءايته يومنون

(45:6) These are God’s verses which we recite to you truthfully. Therefore, in which Hadith other than GOD and His verses do they believe?

Remark: “In which Hadith other than GOD and His verses do they believe?”: This makes it clear that whichever hadiths from Muhammad that is not already directly cited in the Quran cannot possibly be followed or trusted because it would be a hadith other than “God and His verses”.

فباى حديث بعده يومنون

(77:50) Then, in which Hadith, other than this (Quran), do they believe?

This is why we cannot blindly rely on words of men, even when they are messengers: Only God’s revelation (the Quran) is perfect and does not contain any “contradictions” as witnessed in 4:82. The Quran provides us the only authentic hadiths of past messengers (they usually provide good examples, and sometimes bad ones, proving how imperfect they are), as well as authentic hadiths of all kind of human beings in the history of mankind (kings, soldiers, men, women, believers, disbelievers, angels, satan…).

In addition, when it comes to hadiths collections, we know that the earliest were written down about two centuries after Muhammad passed away. Not only Muhammad’s hadiths could not have consistently provided good examples even if written at the time he uttered them (he was according to the Quran a very imperfect man), it is next to impossible to know what hadiths may be 100% in line with the Quran and which ones are not: They contain numerous contradictions, and the rules that were designed to establish which hadiths are supposedly reliable and which ones are not are rules established by men, not by God.

God is the one who teaches the Quran, not Muhammad:

(55:1) The Most Gracious. (55:2) He is the one who taught the Quran.

God did not need any of Muhammad’s sayings (other than those He chose to be part of the last revelation) to clarify the message of the Quran to mankind after he passed away. The reason is that God Himself is the one who teaches the Quran, which He designed to be fully detailed. It contains all the information we need to inherit the perfect religion.

4.1 The Quran: fully detailed

Sunni and Shia Muslims claim that the Quran is not fully detailed and that it is impossible to fully understand it, as well as all details of our religion, without additional sources beside the Quran, that is to say without hadiths and sunna.

It is their opinion. Now, here’s what God Almighty says:

(6:114) Shall I seek other than God as source of law, when He is the One who revealed to you (second person plural = all Muslims) this Book (the Quran) fully detailed ?! And those whom We blessed with prior revelations (lit. “the Book”) know [for a fact] that it is the truth sent down from your Lord ! Therefore, do not be among those who doubt. (Also see 7:52, 10:37)

God Himself proclaims that the Quran is fully detailed. So who should we believe? God, or Sunni and Shia scholars who claim that the Quran is not fully detailed?

It is easy to prove that many of the so called “Sahih Hadiths” (strong Hadiths) are false because lots of them are in blatant contradiction with the Word of God (The Quran). We will provide a few incontrovertible examples later in the article.

Directly in line with fact that the Quran is fully detailed, the Word of God warns us that there is a category of people who are disgusted when the Quran alone is advocated:

(17:46) And we cast a veil upon their hearts, preventing them from understanding it, and deafness in their ears. And when you mention (or remember) your Lord using the Quran ALONE (wahdahu) they turn away their backs in aversion.

4.2 Muhammad’s hadiths found in the Quran are the only hadiths of the prophet that we are allowed to follow: A profound example to meditate.

When God appointed Muhammad as a messenger, He did not let him speak out of his own desire: He commanded him to recite word for word a number of specific sentences that were destined to guide the human race on the right path; Most notably, and no less than 332 times, God commands Muhammad to proclaim specific sentences by saying: “Qul” (Say!/Proclaim!), followed by a specific command that we have to recite and follow faithfully. Such commands obviously indirectly apply to the believers as well every time they read the Quran and are examples of perfectly reliable hadiths, because God himself tells us word for word what we need to say (!).  This is obviously a world of difference when we compare them with the ones that were written down two or more centuries after the revelation of the Quran, not only because it is next to impossible to preserve such hadiths through oral tradition after such an incredibly long period of time, but also because such hadiths are not found in the Quran, and therefore are not part of the divine revelation. Even if rarely some may happen to be correct, we do not need them because the Quran is already fully detailed; they will at best be a repeat of what the Quran already says.

Let us witness an example of such authentic Quranic hadiths of the prophet which enlightens us regarding Muhammad’s mindset following strictly the Quran alone:

(7:203) And whenever you do not bring them a verse (for instance to answer their questions), they say: “Why didn’t you make up one?!” Proclaim (O Muhammad): “I follow exclusively (انما = “only”, “exclusively” = exclusive particle) what is revealed to me from my Lord”! This (solemn proclamation) is enlightenment from your Lord (“your” = second person plural = all Muslims), and guidance and mercy for people who believe.

This proves that Muhammad followed exclusively the verses that were revealed to him, God saying that this should be an “enlightenment from your (second person plural) Lord”, meaning that all believers should follow the example of Muhammad who used to follow exclusively what was revealed to him.

5. Shocking hadiths that contradict the Quran and disfigure Islam: When satan’s law takes precedence over God’s law.

Hadiths contradict the Quran in numerous ways and it would take a very long study to provide an extensive list.

We will choose to deal with hadiths which focus on the issue of stoning to death the adultery and female circumcision, both of which are advocated by alleged “Sahih” (authentic) hadiths. We will quote key Quranic verses which demonstrate that they are false and blatantly contradict god’s law .

5.1 Is stoning to death the adultery a Quranic law; does it contradict the Quran?

There are numerous hadiths which state that a person who commits adultery shall be stoned to death. Such hadiths are responsible for the fact that many people found guilty of adultery in traditional Muslim societies have been stoned to death over the past centuries, and it is still the case in a number of countries including Saoudia Arabia, Iran, Sudan, Pakistan,  The United Arab Emirates, ….

Let us read again Muslim’s famous “Sahih” (“authentic”) hadith quoted earlier:

Adultery, Sahih Muslim, Book 017, Number 4191:

‘Ubada b. as-Samit reported: Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Receive (teaching) from me, receive (teaching) from me. Allah has ordained a way for those (women). When an unmarried male commits adultery with an unmarried female (they should receive) one hundred lashes and banishment for one year. And in case of married male committing adultery with a married female, they shall receive one hundred lashes and be stoned to death.

No one can deny that the law of stoning the adulterer is part of the Sunni and Shia religions. Let us now look at what the Quran says regarding the punishment for adultery:

(24:2) [As for] the unchaste women (azzâniyatou) and the unchaste men (azzânî) [having sexual intercourse while not married to one another], flog each of them a hundred lashes, and do not let [your] pity towards them keep you from carrying out God’s law, if you believe in God and the Last Day. And let a group of believers witness their (dual = both of them) punishment. (24:3) The unchaste men shall not be able to marry except a person guilty of fornication/adultery or a pagan, and the unchaste woman will not be able to marry except a person guilty of fornication/adultery or a pagan; Such a thing is forbidden for the believers (al muwmineen = Muslims).

Insincere Sunni and Shia Muslims distorted the meaning of the words “zâniyatou” and “zânî” (unchaste) above claiming that it only relates to unmarried people found guilty of fornication. This way, they disfigure the truth saying that hadiths about stoning do not contradict the Quran since only married people are stoned to death. In reality, the fact is that no matter how hard you try to misinterpret and manipulate the Quran, stoning the adulterer is never mentioned in the Quran.

The Quran is fully detailed and it does make any difference between married and unmarried people, both of whom receive 100 lashes in case of fornication as witnessed in 24:2.

By the grace of God, verse 4:25 exposes permanently the lies of Sunnis and Shias who distorted the meaning of “zâniyatou” and “zânî”:

(4:25) And whoever among you is not in a position to marry a free believing woman (muhsanat = woman who is not under the yoke of slavery), then [you may find a spouse] among the young believing women whom you possess (lit. “with your right hands” = who are under the yoke of slavery). God knows [the nature of] your faith, you are from one another, so marry them with the permission of their family, and grant them their due dowry in an equitable manner; [they should] be chaste, not immoral women, and not have secret lovers. If once married they become guilty of immorality (in the context adultery), they receive half the punishment (100/2 = 50 lashes) of a free woman (muhsanat = free woman, married or not, not necessarily Muslim according to the definition of the word). This is directed to whomever among you fears [to fall into] sin, and it is better for you to remain patient; God is oft forgiving, Most Merciful.

Since a married woman who was previously under the yoke of slavery receives only half the punishment of a married woman, it proves incontrovertibly that the punishment for a married person is 100 lashes (as we saw in 24:2), not stoning to death. You can divide 100 by two (50 lashes), but you cannot possibly divide death by two. This is how God Almighty designed His honorable and powerful Quran to defeat the pagan law of stoning.

Verse 4:25 therefore proves incontrovertibly that the definition of “azzâniyatou” and “azzânî” in 24:2 refers both to married and unmarried people who have sex outside of wedlock.

We have here the absolute proof that because of corrupted hadiths, the Sunni and Shia religions gave precedence to a pagan law over God’s law: we are unfortunately talking here about killing human beings in the most horrendous manner (stoning to death).

Which religion other than the religion of satan would allow such a despicable law to replace God’s law? The Quran states that inventing laws that contradict the Quran is “shirk” (establishing other deities beside God, see 6:115, 18:27), the most grievous sin in Islam since it leads to hell if maintained until death. People are free to consult the article “fornication, adultery” for more proofs that the law of stoning blatantly violates the Quran.

Even worse, even after being told about verses 24:2 and 4:25 and the impossibility to divide death by two, lots of Sunnis and Shias surprisingly still claim that stoning the adulterer is God’s law. What kind of logic can justify maintaining such corrupt beliefs when God’s law defeats the law of stoning so clearly ?!

The reality is even uglier than it seems as advanced sunni scholars are actually perfectly aware that the law of stoning contradicts blatantly the Quranic law: they do not hesitate nor are they ashamed to proclaim that alleged “Sahih (strong) hadiths” about Stoning the adulterer (such as Muslim, Book 017, Number 4191) abolished the Quranic law of 100 lashes decreed in the Quran !!!

The following commentary of verse 4:15 (regarding the punishment for adultery) is very typical of the sunni of shia mindset and was published in a French translation of the Quran (“Le Coran”, Translation Mohammed Chiadmi, 4th edition, 2010; overseen and validated by Tarik Ramadan, Shaykh Yusuf Ibram, Shaykh Mohammed minta, Shaykh Zakaria Seddiqi):

“God offers them another way out”: “This verse was abrogated by the Sunna in a Sahih hadith reported by Muslim (Sahih Muslim bi sharh an-Nawawi volume 11, page 154). According to this hadith, fornication is punished with the sentence cited in sura 24:2; and adultery by stoning, and not the sentence initially meant in this verse, See also 24/2-9 and footnote.”

(Translated from French by the author of the article, bold letters and red color are added. What the sunni scholar means by “stoning” is obviously stoning to death.)

In satanic sunni and shia religions, a person convicted of adultery is buried to the waist and stoned to death in accordance with so called “sahih hadiths” which blatantly violate and contradict God’s law (the Quran) which decreeds a punishment of 100 moderate lashes. When God’s law is placed in its proper context in the Quran, no one should ever die or even be injured after applying the Quranic law as proven in the article “fornication, adultery” on this website.

They choose to idolize horrible and baseless hadiths written down for the first time more than two centuries after the Quran was revealed, instead of submitting to God’s law perfectly detailed in the Quran (4:60, 42:21), and despite the fact that God Himself proclaims that his law cannot be abrogated (6:115, 18:27) !!! This is why the Quran says that there is no worse blindness than the blindness of the heart (22:46).

Here is what God proclaims about people who refuse to submit to and violate God’s law, wether Jewish, Christians or Muslims:

(5:45) … And whoever does not judge in accordance with what God has revealed (God’s holy books), those are the evildoers!

(5:47) And let the people of the Gospel judge in accordance with what God has revealed therein. And whoever does not judge in accordance with what God has revealed, those are the transgressors!

(5:48) And We revealed to you (O Muhammad) the book in which lies the truth (the holy Quran); confirming what lies between his two hands [inherited] from the holy scriptures (lit. “the book”) and guarding it. So judge (O Muhammad) between them in accordance with what God has revealed, and do not follow their errant views since the truth has come to you. We have devised for [all of] you a law and a clear way…

(5:49) And judge (O Muhammad) between them (Jewish, Christians, Muslims) in accordance with what God has revealed, and do not follow their errant views and beware of them, lest they tempt you away from some of that which God has revealed to you … Is it the judgment of the time of ignorance that they seek ?!And who is better than God when it comes to judge for people who firmly believe?

5.2 Is female “circumcision” (in reality Female Genital Mutilation) a Quranic law ?

Interpreting the law in traditional Islam:

There are four schools of religious law in the Sunni world (90% of the Islamic world) that are “authorized” to interpret the law in the Islamic society, even though they sometimes differ on critical issues. They are the foundation of the Islamic society when it comes to interpret the law. They are the Maliki, Hanbali, Hanafi and Shafi’i schools, and they base their interpretations on the Quran, hadiths and sunna. For instance, according to the Maliki rite (after the interpretations of the imam Malik, and considered the least strict of the four schools), the following rules are to be implemented:

– If one refuses to perform the ritual prayer (Salaat), he is put in isolation until the next prayer, then put to death if he refuses to perform the next prayer.

– The apostate shall be put to death.

– The adultery shall be stoned to death.

This is very simply completely in line with the “Sahih” hadiths we witnessed earlier in this article.

The issue of “Female Genital Mutilation”:

We are going to take this most controversial issue as an example to understand what the four schools are really about, so everyone can evaluate if their enormous weight on the Islamic world is justified;  together with hadiths and sunna, we are going to see that they are actually responsible for Islam to be completely disfigured:

Definition: Female Genital Cutting (FGC), also known as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) or female circumcision, refers to “all procedures involving partial or total removal of the external female genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs whether for cultural, religious or other non-therapeutic reasons.”  (Quoted from Wikipedia).

Shocking facts:

Female genital cutting is recommended (not mandatory) in the maliki and Hanbali school; it is “sunna” (strongly recommended) in the Hanafi school and mandatory in the Shafi’i School.

Facing the truth: The four major schools of law in the sunni world at the very least recommend Female Genital Mutilation. They are unanimous that it is a good thing !!!!!

Let us cite again the two “sahih” hadiths that are responsible for the fact that all four schools agree that FGM is a good thing:

Hadith reported by Umm ‘Atiyyah: “A woman used to perform circumcision in Madinah. The Prophet (s.a.w.) said to her: ‘When you circumcise, do not cut severely as that is better for a woman and more desirable for a husband.” (Related by Abu Dawud & al-Bayhaq).

“When two circumcised parts unite, then bathing becomes obligatory.” (Sahih, reported by Ahmad and Al-Baihaqee)

Lots of Muslims never heard about that because it is a very inconvenient and disturbing truth. Sunni Religious authorities are well aware of what the four schools say about FGM, and often try to avoid the subject or hide it. Such is the type of shameful foundation on which traditional Islam is built, and which they trust. Female Genital Mutilation (called “Female Circumcision” by those who try to disguise what it really is) is obviously never mentioned in the Quran, and for a good reason: It is a paganpractice inspired by satan.

One more time: Because The Quran is fully detailed and does not mention such a practice, it is by definition not part of Islam.

If Hadiths, Sunna and “the four schools” combined can influence people in such a way that they accept and enforce such horrible laws, it means that the foundation on which the Islamic world is built is permanently cracked. We cannot trust them in any way. It means that traditional Islam needs to face its devils and undergo a complete revolution. We need to go back to the essence of Islam: The Quran alone, which alwayscontradicts all the horror found in Hadiths and Sunna.

The ulemas, “doctors” in religious law, whether for or against Female Genital Mutilation, will fight until the Day of Resurrection on the issue (and many others), simply because FGM is irreparably acknowledged in the Hadiths and Sunna. It is written, they cannot erase it. This is why today, and as we speak, in countries like Egypt, Jordan, Saoudia Arabia, Irak, and a plethora of African countries, just to name a few, throngs of Muslim women (millions every year), sometimes the majority in a given region or country, are sexually and psychologically mutilated. Can we even try to fathom all the suffering endured by women, all the broken lives? Only victims can, it’s too horrible. Shame on you traditional Islam!

Just in passing, the saheeh hadith that unequivocally say we shall kill the apostate (Sahih Bukhari 9/57, mentioned earlier) and rulings of the sunni schools of thought that proclaim that someone who does not pray shall be put to death (based on interpreting various hadiths) blatantly contradict 2:256:

لا اكراه فى الدين قد تبين الرشد من الغى فمن يكفر بالطغوت ويومن بالله فقد استمسك بالعروة الوثقى لا انفصام لها والله سميع عليم
(2:256) There shall be no compulsion in religionThe right way has now become distinct from the wrong way: Therefore, whoever rejects the powers of evil and believes in God has indeed grasped the strongest bond; one that never breaks; God is all-hearing, all-knowing.

If you are threatened to be killed if you do not pray or want to change religion, you live in fear and you are not a free person anymore; this is the utmost level of compulsion and religious dictatorship. This is why those hadiths and rulings have been inspired by “the powers of evil” (2:256), not by God, and are the most horrible type of corruption of the word of God. One who chooses not to pray or to leave Islam will definitely be held accountable on the Day of Judgment, but his or her choice shall be respected as he or she cannot be forced according to God’s law, the Holy Quran.

Conclusion:

To people who believe in Hadiths my question is: Are you on the side of people who follow blindly baseless inherited traditions (Satan’s side, 31:6, 45:6, 6:112-123) or on God’s side (the Quran Alone, 17:46)?

All hadiths are to be discarded. The Quran provides the details of everything; we don’t need anything beside it (7:52, 6:114, 10:37).

To people who try to compromise, and accept some Hadiths and reject others, are you trying to reinvent your own religion, what to accept and reject, what looks politically correct and what doesn’t? Did God give you a special gift to know for sure which “Sahih” (authentic) hadith is correct and which “Sahih” hadith is in reality inspired by satan? People who try to find a way in between will never succeed and will always be in disagreement which each other because there will never be any unanimity on anything, for instance Female Genital Mutilation and stoning to death the adulterer.

The truth is: People who dare to give precedence to satanic laws (like stoning the adulterer or female genital mutilation) over the Quran, and despite such laws being clearly condemned by the Quran – are the worst kind of idol worshipers. God will judge between them and us who reject hadiths and uphold the pure Quran. We will see on the Day of Judgment who the kafeers (infidels) are, and we will see who will be blessed to establish pure Islam on earth. By God, it will not be them, because they are cursed for trangressing God’s laws and replacing them with evil, satanic laws.

The above are just a few shocking examples we find in the maliki rite and other schools as well. Hadiths and sunna are much worse than the cancer of Islam. Those who refuse to discard all Hadiths and sunna (100%) and try to find a way in between only remove the cancer partially. It will keep on growing and they will forever remain a sick, corrupted religion built on a cracked foundation. Sunni  Islam – and Shia Islam is no better – are truly horrible religions. It will never change the extraordinary beauty and peace of real Islam as described in the pure and self sufficient Quran.

Most of traditional Muslims who are given a chance to follow the path of the Quran alone refuse to purify their faith because of lack of sincerity and/or social pressure. The incredible irony is that the very same people would never have accepted hadiths and sunna in the first place, would have been horrified by them, and would have strongly condemned them if they had been born in a different family, in a different religion, in a different country. So what is wrong with them?

Would you delegate the interpretation of the law in your society to a serial killer who stones to death the adulterer, kills the apostate, kills people who refuse to pray, mutilates sexually girls and women? Would such a despicable serial killer still deserve any credit, if we discarded the horrors, when it comes to interpret the rest of the law ? Or should his interpretations be entirely discarded and rethought according to the only law (GOD’S LAW) and the only school of thought (the QURAN ALONE) that deserves any credit?

Think about it.

God proclaimed that she should have lived and His religion is a religion of Forgiveness; satan inspired them that she deserved to be stoned to death. Why did she then have to die, and in such an atrocious manner ?! The answer is horrible and it is because men gave preference to the law of satan and despised and rejected God’s law.

(22:46) Did they not roam the earth: Don’t they have hearts with which they reason, and ears with which they hear?! For indeed, the real blindness is not the blindness of the eyes, but the blindness of the hearts inside the chests.

The Quran, the only path:

(45:6) These are God’s verses/revelations which we recite to you truthfully. Therefore, in which HADITH other than GOD AND HIS VERSES/ REVELATIONS do they believe?

(31:6) “Among the people, there are those who take frivolous HADITH, thus leading astray others from the path of God without knowledge, and take it as a mockery; These have incurred a humiliating retribution.”

(6:112) “We have allowed the enemies of every prophet – human and jinn devils – to suggest to others EMBELLISHED WORDS, in order to deceive. Had your Lord willed, they would not have done it. So leave them and their INVENTIONSalone. (6:113) This is to let the minds of those who do not believe in the Hereafter listen to such INVENTION and be content with it, and to let them earn from it whatever they may.

Whoever reads for instance 45:6 (a very literal and accurate translation) and still insist upon following any “hadith other than God and His verses/revelations” is not a Muslim nor a believer, but a kafeer. It is as simple as that.

Please, do not be like the silent majority: Help us fight obscurantism and pass down the word about this article; send a link to your friends, tell your loved ones why hadiths and sunna corrupt our societies and how much suffering and injustice women and men have to endure because of them.
